Happy February -- the month of LOVE! What a great time to share love stories!
Do you have a love story with a happy ending? A tragic ending? A story that's not over?
Even a tragic ending can be the most beautiful love story. Yesterday I saw an HGTV show about a young woman whose husband passed away in an accident. Her new home commemorated him in a beautiful love story.
Let's share all of our love stories!
Mine is a bit unique for our time. I went on my first date at age 16. It was a blind date, set up by a friend. He was 17. We had fun, and he asked me out again. And again. And before we knew it, we were in love.
We had our share of ups and downs. My first year of college, I was driving his car and when the weather turned to freezing rain. I couldn't turn or stop at the bottom of an icy hill. I hit the guard rail and dented the front of his car.
Our parents disagree about who should pay for the repairs and put the two of us in the middle of their argument. We were on the verge of breaking up over this silly mishap. I'll never forget my dad saying, "He's just your first boyfriend!"
Well, we realized that the issue was between our parents, not us. We worked it out between us and stuck together.
A year later, he asked me to marry him.
We've been together for over 40 years now, and married for 37. We have two married children and one grandchild together. We still love each other and enjoy one another's company. And we still work things out between us and stick together.
That's my love story!
Married, single, widowed, or divorced, we all have a love story -- because GOD loves us -- no matter what!
