A Cheerful Heart

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” Proverbs 17:22

Don’t y'all need a cheerful heart right now?

Have you heard the term ‘COVID fatigue’? Talk about a broken spirit.

Who isn’t tired of living with a pandemic? Even homebodies (like me) have grown a bit bored and depressed after staying home for extended periods over the last five months.

The deaths, the illness, the restrictions.

The closings, the uncertainties, the anxieties.

And the masks.

“Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.” Proverbs 12:25

We all need an encouraging word – some good cheer!

So look around you. There’s much to be cheerful about.

Summer is here! The grass is green, the breeze is balmy, and the water is warm.

The sun shines down on the earth. And the Son of God shines up in heaven!

God loves and provides for us, and sent His only Son to die for us.

If we also have people who love us, how blessed we are!

Good and caring people still live and serve and rise up in this world.

YOU are a good and caring person.

Rise up and rejoice!

God’s kingdom needs our service more than ever.

As a good friend told me this week, “We have work to do, Lady, so snap out of it!”

Don’t you love that?!

Let’s look forward and rise beyond the current restrictions.

Let’s leave the anxiety behind.

Let’s snap out of it!

“When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” Psalms 94:19
