Violets are Blue...

"And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen." Exodus 35:25

In the Bible, purple and blue signify royalty, elegance, and abundance. In the book of Exodus, purple, blue, and scarlet decorated the Lord's tabernacle.

Wise-hearted, or in other versions skilled, women created beautiful fabrics for the Lord's house. They made priests' garments and draperies and tablecloths.

They used their talents for the Lord. We all have talents and skills to serve God's kingdom.

Maybe we can prepare dinner for a despairing family or bake cookies for coffee time.

Maybe we can assemble church bulletins or help in the office.

Maybe we can mop floors or polish pews.

Maybe we can minister to parents or college students or the elderly.

Maybe we can encourage our pastors and elders and deacons and pray for them.

Maybe we can plant violets for someone who's blue.

God gave us gifts. Let's use them to serve His church and His people.

"If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."

1 Peter 4:11
