Famous Last Words

Updated: Sep 18, 2023

The Moving Chronicles...

Y'all know we've been 'moving' for over a month now.

Between finding a house that we couldn't pass up; making an offer; being declined; making a better offer; signing a contract; cleaning our current house from top to bottom; listing and showing it; negotiations; signing another contract; home inspections both here and there; resulting negotiations and contract revisions; packing, packing, and re-packing; ongoing issues with our moving container company (don't even ask); and then loading furniture, heavy tool boxes, a king-sized bed, a giant sectional, and seemingly everything under the sun into the moving container, back out of the moving container, and reloading the moving container, YES, we've been 'moving' for over a month.

The actual closing/moving date is September 21. This date would be my late sister Debbie's 60th birthday. She passed away at 29. It's hard to imagine my youthful, beautiful sister at 60. But on her 60th birthday, we're buying a new house!

And with all this moving comes some famous last words. Some of these are from past moves. I'll begin with one from a non-moving event but I just had to include it in a 'famous last words' post.

Here they are:

"That's not going to fall on your head."

(Referring to a car transmission.)

"I've got this."

"It'll fit."

"I know what I'm doing."

"That's not going to fall off."

"Since you're not busy..."

"We have enough boxes."

"It's not that heavy."

"But I've had that since high school."

"I'm not a hoarder."

"The wind isn't going to catch that."

"I'm not going 100 miles an hour!"

"The container will be delivered on Friday."

"The truck will be fixed tomorrow."

"The container will be delivered next Thursday."

"The truck will be fixed tomorrow."

"Just buy another one."

(Referring to something no longer available.)

And the all time Most Famous Last Words...

"You didn't need that anyway."

I hope you enjoyed this post. We'll be moved SOON and you won't have to hear about it anymore. :)

Good luck--I hope everything goes smoothly and that nothing breaks! Oops, did I just jinx you? Nope, no such thing. It's all in God's hands.
