Every day, God is doing something new. His mercies are new every morning. Sunrise and sunset are a different time each day. The weather, tides, and seasons are constantly in flux.
No two days are ever alike. Even when staying home every day makes us feel like we're trapped in the movie, Ground Hog Day, there remain subtle differences in each day we live on this earth.
From how well we sleep, to our mood and energy, to the bed-head state of our hair, each day brings new experiences from the moment our brain awakens to the second we drop off to sleep.
Every day, babies are born. Each one has a unique personality, identity, and fingerprints. And every day, people die. Each one has a different story, circumstances, and age.
God creates new beginnings every single moment of every single day.
This year, with changes no one expected and circumstances no one anticipated, God designed a new beginning for each one of us.
Let's make the most of the changes we've seen. Staying home, spending more time with family, less time on the road, and living a less complicated life have been some benefits of 2020.
Some changes will have lasting impacts. This new decade will likely see more people working from home, homeschooling their children, and washing their hands more often. Less positive changes include fear, anxiety, and isolation. Loneliness and mental distress have taken a toll.
May we praise God for the positives and pray over the negatives. May we seek His face and His guidance in this new beginning.
In my own life, I'm in a season of new beginnings. My husband and I are in the process of moving from South Carolina to North Carolina. While this move was a bit unanticipated and a difficult decision that affected many people and factors, I now see that God is doing a new thing!
I look forward to watching Him make a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. I look forward to meeting my new grandson who is due in December and prompted this decision to move! I look forward to buying a new home, arranging the furniture, and decorating.
I pray that God's new beginning includes me writing full time. I pray He makes a way in the wilderness of publishing for new books for me. I pray that He creates streams in the wasteland of new relationships, new opportunities, and a new neighborhood.
God is doing a new thing. Do you not perceive it?
Let's take back 2020 as a New Beginning. Let's look forward to this new decade with positive anticipation. Let's watch what God is doing as He makes a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
